A place to make a fresh start.

The Mudhiyor Balar Kudumbar Grama (MBKG) Orphanage and King’s school are located in a beautiful rural area on the outskirts of Vellore. MBKG is a home for small children who are orphaned or whose parents can no longer care for them due to disease or destitution. It also provides a home for destitute women, who act as 'mothers' for the children while they are young, living in small cottages with one mother to 8-9 children. These families are supported by Seb's Projects for everything from nutritional needs through to computers for their classrooms and international volunteers to teach English and crafts.

There is also an attached bakery for the school and surrounding institutions, earning the orphanage some much-needed cash, as well as a garment making unit, providing the less academic girls with skills training to help them go on to work.

 Once children finish primary school, they join the adjoined King’s School, which  is now a fully fledged matriculation school with higher secondary status, educating over 700 pupils (in English & Tamil) from the MBKG Orphanage as well as children from the surrounding villages.

Many of these rural communities are segregated by religion and/or caste and have very little communication with each other. King’s school plays a vital role in encouraging the children to interact, play and learn together without the pre-conceived prejudices they face at home.

The facilities and quality of teaching at the school continue to improve with support from Seb's. Every week, Seb's Projects run interactive classes in computer skills and English as part of the DREAM project, and every summer the Seb's team runs a week long summer camp to help children develop their sport, music and craft skills as well as their technical capacity by training in subjects such as animation. Over the past year we have recruited volunteers to provide team building for the teachers, as well as mentoring and tutoring struggling students.
