Eco Trails Around the Hills

The Eco Trail project offers a range of special treks and workshops across the Jawadhi Hills range of the Eastern Ghats. Here's a sample of what the project offers...

Living in Harmony with Nature

A perfect workshop for those wishing to learn more about environmental issues impacting forest regions, the people that live in them, and how we can use our skills to assist tribal communities to deal with these challenges.

This program involves a 6km trek along the riverbed to Thandayankottai village, games, design activities, house visits and a visit to the resource centre hosted by the community and Seb's Projects India facilitators.

Social Transformations

Social Transformations is a program that aims to open your eyes to the way our tribal communities are developing, and the ways in which they are not. The workshop is designed to give students a fun and inspiring glimpse into the lives of the Hindu Malayali tribe, and to help them develop as Social Entrepreneurs in their own field!

This program involves a 6km trek along the riverbed to Thandayankottai village, games, house visits, debates and social entrepreneurship design activities, all run by the community and Seb's Projects India facilitators.

Marudavallimedu

Visitors take the tractor to Thattankuttai village and rest before beginning the tough 7km trek along the beautiful woodland to the small hamlet of Marudavallimedu (700m above sea level), where they have lunch and interact with the community, before beginning the beautiful trek back.

Education in remote Communities

This program visits one of the remote forest schools set up by Sebs Projects India in Periyapannaparai and Thattankuttai villages, Jawadhi Hills, Treks to the schools are either 7km or 9km, but tractors can be arranged if necessary. Students interact with the children and learn about the challenges and rewards of schooling in remote communities, as well as making a lot of excitable new friends!.

Karappanankollai

Visitors trek up a steep 7km to the tiny hamlet of Karappanankollai (814m above sea level), where we have lunch with the families that live there, before trekking to the old colonial hunting house of Bungalamedu and learning about the colonial history of Jawadhi Hills.
